Parenting is great, best job in the world, yada. But there are just some days when it’s all too much. He flung his strained peas all over the kitchen (somehow managing to get them into places you’ll never, ever find to clean up, and thus will always smell faintly pea-y). On those days, you kind of want to quit the best job in the world. But you can’t. So instead, you have a little joke at her expense, by volunteering her for sale to anyone with three-quarters of a C-note — or less, if he’s good at haggling. And you can get away with this hilarious ruse for one simple reason: your kid can’t read! Hey, it’s her own fault for being illiterate.
