There’s something to be said for making a point with accuracy, precision, and clarity. It shows you’ve put a lot of thought into whatever it is you’re talking about. You’ve possibly even done research to make sure you’ve lined your position up with the facts. You have enough respect for your conversational opponent to stick to cool logic.
Or, you know. That’s one way to go. But it’s a lot of trouble. You have to look stuff up. And then remember it. And it might not even work, so then that’s a lot of time wasted that you could have spent taking a nap.
The truth is, you’d probably be just as likely to find success making an argument by blowing everything out of proportion. Exaggerate risks or rewards! Inflate all your numbers! Remember that hyperbole is without a doubt the single greatest thing in the history of the universe!
